CSO 49 & 50 Sewer

Cleveland, OH

Client:  Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District
Contract Amount:  $6,840,000

Scope: The project consists of 2200 lf of 7’ diameter excavated tunnel using ribs and lagging. There are two headings, each of which will work from one access shaft and terminate at receiving shafts. The final lining is a 48” diameter, reinforced concrete pipe. Tunneling will be entirely in the Cleveland Shale formation. The access shaft is a 20’ finished baffle drop concrete structure. In addition, there are 24” and 12” diameter connecting sewers plus an outfall sewer and structure to be built at the edge of Big Creek.

Unique Features: The project was value engineered and redesigned by Triad engineers. The new sewer profile was lowered, a new routing designed and a full conversion to tunnel from partial open cut. An environmentally sensitive area was avoided as well as significant disruption and blockage to an industrial street in Cleveland.
